Women Bishops in the Church in Wales

I have heard via Twitter that the Governing Body of the Church in Wales has approved a measure to allow women to be consecrated as bishops without the need for complex legislation of provisions for those opposed to the development.

This is very good news indeed, and a very good example to England. No one in the church should want to see a minority, such as those who hold a 'traditional' position on this, forcibly ejected from the church of which they have been faithful members: Anglicans are by nature tolerant. However, it is wrong to put legal provisions in to the legislation for those opposed because it undermines women bishops and the episcopate in general. Non-statutory codes of practice are the way forward, not legislative provision.
